If you can't get enough of playing with colourful toy bricks, then prepare yourself for the ultimate LEGO experience, launching in Denmark next week. LEGO House is a new building that calls itself the "home of the brick" and is set to be a magical destination for any LEGO fan.
"It's a manifestation of the very essence of the LEGO idea," explains Jesper Vilstrup, General Manager. "This will be an amazing place where LEGO fans, their families and friends can experience – or re-experience – the playfulness of the LEGO universe. All activities are related to our philosophy that creative play promotes innovation."
Designed by architectural firm Bjarke Ingels Group, the humble LEGO brick has inspired much of the building's design. It consists of 21 white bricks, stacked on top of each other, crowned by an oversized 2x4 LEGO brick, the so-called "keystone".
Inside, expect a sea of LEGO bricks for both adults and children, four coloured areas offering various experiences, a spectacular Masterpiece Gallery where fans exhibit their impressive creations, and a History Collection where you can learn more about the brand and its history.
Jesper Vilstrup adds: "The location of the building is no coincidence. Billund is where the LEGO adventure began. It was always our intention that LEGO House should be open to tourists as well as Billund’s citizens at large. For this very reason, there is free access to the 2,000 m2 city square at the heart of the building, which we hope will become a natural gathering place for our guests."
After nearly four years of construction, the LEGO House will finally open its doors on 28 September 2017. To find out more, visit legohouse.com and prepare to let your creativity grow.
