Kai Schäfer's photographs of the greatest albums in music history on classic turntables

Kai Schäfer has something of a thing for old vinyl. The absolute must-haves. The albums that instantly spring to mind as being amongst the best in modern musical history. And he loves to photograph them from above on old skool turntables. The large format images come together in his ongoing series, Worldrecords – a tribute to the art of the analogue and a celebration of some of pop's finest music.

Albums featured include David Bowie’s The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures, Dr Dre’s The Chronic, Serge’s Gainsbourg’s Initials B.B., Michael Jackson’s Thriller, The Rolling Stones’ Exile on Main St and The Clash’s London Calling.

Now available in a new photobook, published by HENI, Worldrecords includes an interview with the artist by Michael Bracewell as well as a foreword by Peter Hook of Joy Division and New Order fame.
