Bianca Wilson's cityscape paintings will appeal to lovers of geometric patterns and soft colours

She travels extensively (or at least, she used to), visiting places such as London, Tokyo and Osaka, determined to "gain as much knowledge as possible about the similarities, differences, features and functionalities of these man-made structures".

In her latest series of paintings, Urban Landscapes, we see Bianca is drawn to serial architectural elements that, when painted onto canvas, translate into repeated geometric patterns: "Whether it is in the form of rows of terrace houses, spiralling stairwells or the recurring distant windows in a city skyline," she explains. She strips down the detail of a particular landscape and bathes them in a sunrise or sunset glow, transforming the mundane into glorious structures that are often overlooked.
