Uncommon's B&Q ads put a Spring into everybody's step
It's been a rare case of nature imitating human events. Just as Britain lifts out of lockdown, winter is turning to spring, with blue skies, warmer temperatures and flowers blossoming everywhere. And a new series of billboard and print ads for B&Q, crafted by Uncommon, captures that spirit perfectly.

On the heels of the retailer's B&Q’s latest film, We Will Grow Again, the ads' vibrant artwork dovetails nicely with its messaging; celebrating the resilience and re-emergence of the UK.
The imagery features a giant installation of plants and flowers, where every colour is given a stage. The scenic backdrop is married with simple, white typography, highlighting fun copy lines such as: 'Happiness does grow on trees. And windowsills', 'Junglist Massive', and '2,000 natural highs'.
The pictures were shot by photographer Dan Tobin Smith, who's best known for his shot used on Jay-Z's Blueprint 3 album cover.
This latest campaign also follows on from B&Q's 'Build a Life' campaign by Uncommon last September that celebrates the belief that DIY can lift our spirits. Well, it certainly did something: Kingfisher, the owner of B&Q, reported a sharp rise in full-year sales and profits earlier in March, putting it down to a boost from a new generation of "young DIY-ers".
