Peter Crowther's ground-breaking CGI works to be celebrated in a new exhibition

When it comes to ground-breaking computer-generated imagery, Peter Crowther is one of the best in the business. His work has pretty much elevated CGI to the level of fine art.

From highly conceptual, message-orientated, and lyrical image-making through to more linear and narrative-driven illustration, Peter is no doubt at the forefront of this medium.

After graduating from the Royal College of Art with an MA (DES RCA) in Graphic Design, he began his career at Decode Design, one of the first multimedia design companies in London, where he beta tested the first version of Photoshop. Six months later, his career as a freelance illustrator and animator kicked off when he created his first large scale series of surreal photomontages for the flagship Virgin Megastore.

You can learn more at a new exhibition at The Coningsby Gallery in London next month, featuring some 40 pieces spanning Peter’s illustrious career as a CG artist commissioned by some of the world’s leading companies.

Amongst other projects, he has worked on stamps for the Royal Mail, billboards for P&O, and title sequences for the BBC and Channel 4. Peter continues to use cutting edge 3D software and takes an active role in beta testing. Having a direct dialogue with the software engineers and chief scientists has led to new feature development and a streamlined user interface.

CC: CGI / Crowther Created: Computer Generated Imagery launches on 30 September at The Coningsby Gallery in London and runs until 12 October 2019.
