Fragmento Universo utilise the humble vegetable as a canvas for their art

I'm familiar with artists looking to alternative canvases on which to showcase their art, but Fragmento Universo, designers Tessa Dóniga and Christian Baumgartner, take this one step further with their latest project for Garlic.tv.

In the photography series, Vegetable Canvas, the duo delicately treats vegetables as real canvases, using colour as an expression of different forms and shapes. "The result is a visual representation of unique structures that are placed into minimalistic scenes in order to enhance and focus the viewer's attention on the new singular plasticity created."

The Madrid-based designers work on film and music art projects for their extensive list of clients. In most of their video pieces, they play with purely aesthetic concepts, combining design, art direction and sound. They particularly specialise in lo-fi visuals.

"We experiment every day, building a visual language with self initiated and commissioned projects. We create videos and minimal expressions of still life photography, commercials, institutional campaigns and social media branded content."
