Valeria Feliú's thought-provoking oil paintings of women that express raw emotion

"We are emotions and we are feelings. Everything else is circumstances, decisions and memories," says Valeria Feliú, an Argentinian artist whose latest series of oil paintings she describes as "portraits of thought".

"My intention with these artworks is to ponder and bring to mind the creative potential we all have, as we can – without realising it – become someone dominated or trapped by our own thoughts."

Born in Buenos Aires in 1970, Valeria developed an interest in art from an early age, attending various workshops and pursuing personal projects in ceramics, drawing, painting, and photography. While studying a Visual Communication degree, she attended a workshop of a renowned Argentine artist – Adolfo Nigro – and was inspired to focus on painting.

In the early '90s, she moved to Sydney, Australia to study interior design and worked in the architectural and design field. At the same time, she developed her artistic career, mainly in an abstract style, participating in various exhibitions, art fairs and competitions. She has since moved back to Argentina to become a full-time painter, and today focuses her work on realism. Discover more of her paintings at valeriafeliu.com.ar.
