The Vinyl Factory commissions striking new work by Ryoji Ikeda

Store X is a new platform for cultural expression and exchange, and evolution of record label, print press and online magazine The Vinyl Factory, hoping to support and bring together a creative community for shared experiences.

Collaborating with some of the most innovative artists and musicians today, The Vinyl Factory is premiering works at its curated space, Store Studios, 180 The Strand, with an initial focus on Ryoji Ikeda’s test pattern [N ̊12] – the latest iteration of his test pattern project, begun in 2006, in which he converts data (from music, text, photo and video) into monochrome binary patterns.

Enveloping you in a disorientating, highly-charged, kinetic environment, Ikeda’s site-specific installation involves intense flickering black and white imagery, which appears to float and convulse in the darkness to a stark and highly synchronised soundtrack.
