Dark oil paintings by Steve Higgins that convey the complexities of modern life
When Californian artist Steven Thomas Higgins gets to work at his Rialto studio, he tries to create art that can speak for itself. Taking inspiration from politics, science, death, emotion, psychology, consciousnesses, metaphysics, art, music and landscapes – there is no end to the things that he strives to paint.

Speaking of his work, Steven said: "I make images for reasons that fluctuate. My thoughts, feelings and inner need to communicate are essential to my process as an artist. I am interested in making my work personal, like a diary."
