Shillington launches its first-ever online courses, across global time zones

In 2020, the world's been turned upside-down, not least in education. The ideal of traditional study, in a physical classroom, is no longer possible for some, at least not for a while yet.

And of course, for many, it's never been one of the most convenient of options. So it's fantastic news that Shillington, one of our favourite providers of short and intensive design courses, has taken the leap and launched its first-ever online-only course.

Real-time study

Most providers of online courses provide you with a library of materials and videos to work through at your own pace. But Shillington's new part-time online course is a step above that.

Starting from 21 September, it allows you to study and work with real tutors, in real-time, from wherever you are in the world.

Lectures, demos and critiques are delivered by your teachers during set class times across three times zones: UK, US East Coast and US West Coast. So for example, if you're in Europe, you would take the UK course, while those Australia, Japan and China would take the US West Coast course. In short, it's much like studying at a physical college, but without the hassle of a commute.

These sessions take place three nights a week, Monday-Wednesday, at 6-9pm/6.30-9.30pm.

Much like being at one of its six campuses around the world, Shillington provides real-world briefs for you to work on individually, in pairs or in groups to practice what you've learnt. And when you need to refresh your mind on something, away from the virtual classes, there's recorded study material available, too – so you never stop learning.

Stay connected

Shillington's online course is designed to keep you engaged and connected with your classmates and teachers no matter how physically remote they are. With an impressive student to teacher ratio of 9:1, you're sure to get the individual attention you need. And because you're no longer limited to a campus city, you'll get to hear guest lecturers from different countries.

Using Shillington's innovative learning platform, you'll be able to interact with classmates from outside of your home city and develop connections with people from around the world. So you'll have plenty of opportunities for networking and forming those all-important relationships that stay with you throughout your career.
