Mind of an Urban Spaceman: Installation presents colourful alternative cityscape of London

As if Carnaby Street isn't lively enough, with its bright facades and bold street art, not to mention the glorious Liberty of London, its latest installation is sure to brighten even the dreariest of days.

We Built This City has commissioned Olly Fathers – tipped as "a rising star of South London’s exploding art scene", to design its storefront to coincide with The London Design Festival 2017.

The Mind of an Urban Spaceman explores the A-B journeys that create the flow of London, with Fathers’ work inspired by the perspective of buildings and the movement of the city around him. Visitors to Carnaby during the festival (16-24 September) are promised a colourful alternative cityscape of London on a large scale.

Fathers said: “The hustle and bustle of a city centre is exactly what this piece is all about – to have my work in as prominent a location as Carnaby is not only an incredible opportunity but one that’s in the perfect setting for people to gain an immersive experience of this installation.”

The hand-painted, 3D installation is the latest in a series of We Built This City storefront collaborations – with London-based creative heavyweights Supermundane and Camille Walala among the artists previously commissioned to showcase their work on the iconic London street.
