Costello Medical is hiring a Motion Designer to work on motion design projects for healthcare clients, from concept development through to full production, with plenty of autonomy and creativity. The Creative team focuses on data visualisation and scientific communication, and also takes on pro bono work for charities and the public sector. The role can be based at the Bristol, Cambridge (Global HQ), London, Manchester or Edinburgh office.
What you'll be doing
- Developing motion content: creating 2D and 3D animations, explainer videos and interactive visuals
- Filming: planning and delivering small-scale on-site filming with good video and audio quality
- Video and audio editing: supporting post-production for live and virtual events
- Strong collaboration: working with creative colleagues and project managers to set project scope and approach
- Effective communication: explaining project requirements clearly and answering technical queries
- Quality and delivery: delivering on time, within budget and to a high standard
- Exceptional service: building strong partnerships with internal teams and clients
What we're looking for
Essential
- A degree or higher in a design-related field (minimum 2.1 or equivalent), plus a highly innovative portfolio; diverse specialisms are welcome, including motion design, animation, visual effects and film and media production
- Extensive experience with Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects
- Proven experience creating animations and/or video editing for digital channels
- Familiarity with other Adobe Creative Cloud programs (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and other motion software
- Some professional agency or commercial experience
- A problem-solving mindset and the ability to think outside the box
- Strong organisation, time management and productivity, with flexibility as deadlines change
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build lasting working relationships
Desirable
- Filming experience, with knowledge of pre- and post-production
- Experience creating 3D animations
Experienced Motion Designers and people with a genuine interest in healthcare are both encouraged to apply, and colleagues provide one-to-one training.
What's on offer
- Salary: £28,000–£33,000 outside London (£28,860–£33,000 in London), depending on experience, plus a twice-yearly discretionary profit share; salary bands are fixed, so there is no individual negotiation
- Leave: 25 days' annual leave plus bank and public holidays, and a holiday buy and sell scheme
- Flexibility: flexible hours, and up to half of working time from home after probation (measured over a two-week rolling period); one day a week from home during the first six months
- Flexible benefits: options include cash payments and extra pension contributions
- Private medical insurance: comprehensive cover on a "medical history disregard" basis
- Study: paid study leave and full funding for external qualifications
- Protection: critical illness cover, income protection and life assurance
- Sabbaticals: paid and unpaid options based on length of service
The application process
Apply online with a CV, a cover letter and a PDF or online portfolio. The process includes a self-recorded video interview, then a final interview with senior Creative team members that includes a portfolio review, and usually takes two to three weeks. The role does not offer visa sponsorship, so applicants must already have the right to work in the UK.
How to apply
There is no fixed deadline: the role closes once a suitable candidate is found, so applying early is recommended.
