According to Wrap, it's estimated that annual food waste arising from UK households, hospitality and food service, food manufacture, retail and wholesale sectors amounts to around 10 million tonnes, 60% of which can be avoided.
It's this that venturethree hopes to address and raise awareness of, along with many other world issues: "We’re helping the UN promote the Great Green Wall across Africa; we’re working with people in the USA to create a new non-toxic concrete to rebuild the world’s infrastructure; we’re putting the first brand into space on a re-usable rocket with SpaceX; we’re responsible for the thinking behind a game-changing mobile network in India that has won 100 million customers in just 170 days. We just want to make the world better and have fun doing it."
As for the inspiration behind the food waste posters, the studio said: "After learning that 7.3 million tonnes of otherwise edible food were thrown out by UK households in 2015 – which equates to £13 billion and 19 million tonnes of greenhouse gases – we were inspired to create something meaningful using our skills to help raise money and awareness of food waste."
The posters are available to buy online, with all proceeds going to the Jamie Oliver Food Foundation and UK Harvest.
