Craig Oldham releases for sale his typographic 'Key Workers' print to raise money for Manchester food initiative

Revealed in April, the print first appeared around the city centre with the message, "May they never be deemed 'low skilled' again". It was in response to how those now hailed as "key workers" were labelled as "low skilled" or "unskilled" by Home Secretary Priti Patel in February.

Listing all of the different job titles – from warehouse operative and soup kitchen staff to security officer and registered nurse, the poster aims to celebrate their contribution to society, not just during the Covid-19 pandemic but in future, too.

Craig told us last month, "The message is that it's taken a global pandemic for the Government to recognise the value of all of its citizens and workforces. These workers clean, care and deliver for this country, and they always have – global pandemic or not."

Leeds printers, Team Impression, has kindly offered to print a 50cmx70cm free of charge and are also donating time and admin to distribute them directly. With every print sold, Eat Well MCR will be able to make 15 meals for those in most need of food or the "comfort and community a meal can bring".
