New Year, Same Me: Yeye Weller's latest illustrations poke fun at New Year's resolutions

Have you failed at your New Year's resolutions yet? Or are you still going strong? No matter how well you're doing German illustrator Yeye Weller has launched a new set of prints to remind us to not take ourselves too seriously in 2020.

Poking a little harmless fun at the annual tradition of trying to better ourselves, his latest artworks for New Year, Same Me are currently on show at the Hen's Teeth gallery in Dublin. Weller's choice of vibrant colour and his timeless style evokes a sense of nostalgia.

"Every year is the same. Everyone feels unhappy and feels the need to change something with the beginning of the New Year," says Yeye. "Tonnes of stupid resolutions everywhere you look, but this exhibition will show that it is okay to be lazy and inconsistent."

It's the second time Yeye has exhibited at Hen's Teeth's permanent gallery in Dublin's Blackpitts. Prints from the collection are being sold exclusively online and in-store via hensteethstore.com.

"I love the colours, humour and balance," adds Yeye. "These are the three necessities for my work. I don't have a smart message or a device for freedom, my illustrations come as they are: happy, colourful and stupid."

Yeye creates everything from small illustrations in his tiny studio in the small German town of Münster and selling 50 pieces of his hand-printed magazines to working with huge clients like Warner Bros, New York Times and Dunkin' Donuts. Discover more of his work at yeyeweller.de.
