Robot Food teams up with Vocation Brewery for a whole year of 'Special Editions'

Robot Food and Vocation Brewery have partnered to create twelve limited-edition designs for the Yorkshire brewery's monthly craft beer Special Series.

Releasing one design each month throughout 2019, it follows a complete brand refresh by the Leeds-based design agency and aims to showcase the diverse brewing styles of the company. From Japanese rice lager to juicy Berliner Weisse, the chosen beers cover a broad range of flavours and styles, culminating in a "scrumdiddlyumptious" chocolate stout as the twelfth and final beer.

Briefed with a line or two of brewer's notes, Robot Food developed concepts, names, stories and graphic styles inspired by each beer's unique characteristics. It also worked with The Label Makers to bring each concept to life through special stocks, print processes and finishes.

Martin Widdowfield, Robot Food's creative director, said: "With a high-level strategy underpinning the project, the design could be fast-paced and highly creative – just think of a cool idea and make it look as good as possible in just one day. Most of our team were able to get involved and that’s reflected in the breadth of graphic styles represented. We’re lucky to work with the team at Vocation. They trust us to treat the brand as if it were our own."
