The limited edition magazine is part of an ongoing project by senior fashion lecturer Jacqui McAssey, which she launched in 2013 "to give female football supporters visibility and a sense of belonging in football culture".

With only 100 printed copies, sent out across the world, Girlfans Untold is a real treat for anyone who is passionate about the beautiful game. Jacqui said, "It’s been so good to represent older supporters. Women who are often overlooked by their club, ignored by merch designers, essentially missing from history."

Dotto crafted a bespoke wordmark for Untold, inspired by the shapes and lines associated with the game through flags, markings and shirts. The colour palette echoes the fades and colour gradients of the original photography. And the size of the publication nods to the old football programmes, but the simple, bold, colourful editorial was intended to feel like something different and ensure the fascinating stories of the nine women were the absolute focus.

For those of you who love the technical details, Girlfans Untold was printed by Pressision on G . F Smith Colorplan White Frost for the cover and Fedrigoni Arco print for the internal pages. Lovely stuff. The project was also supported by the Liverpool School of Art & Design at Liverpool John Moores.
