Digging His Heels In: photographs reveal rare glimpse of Christian Louboutin’s private garden

Kicking off the month in style is Digging His Heels In, an exclusive photography exhibition featuring Christian Louboutin’s private garden, shot by the photographer, Jane Hilton.

Formed over a 30-year period in the grounds of a 13th-century French chateau in the Vendee, Louboutin’s extraordinary garden is as beautiful, surprising and playful as his trademark shoes.

Now, a set of prints will help capture the sensory pleasures of the previously unphotographed outdoor space that the designer has created with his business partner, Bruno Chambelland.

Visitors to the pop-up in Covent Garden's Floral Street will not only be offered an insight into Louboutin’s hitherto hidden passion for gardening but to coincide with the exhibition, three floral installations have been crafted by some of London’s leading florists – the Urban Flower Company, Palais Flowers and Jam Jar.

All echo the house and garden, including an entire wall of pressed flower panels created by the florist Melissa Richardson and inspired by the French designer’s bedroom in the chateau, which is covered floor to ceiling with pressed antique flowers.

This is the latest in a series of fashion and design pop-ups on Floral Street, joining SHOWstudio and neon artist Lauren Baker.

Digging His Heels In opens between 1 – 7 December 2017 at Rakesprogress, 13 Floral Street, Covent Garden.
