Major UK comic con Thought Bubble Festival has announced new guests and event details for their upcoming digital convention in November, along with IRL events you can enjoy with your 'support bubble' in the New Year.
The digital event will be held in place of the usual festival and convention at Harrogate Convention Centre which has been postponed to November 2021 and will feature American filmmaker and nerd-culture icon Kevin Smith (Jay & Silent Bob, Clerks), as well as the British director and producer Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code). Jones will be discussing with writer Alex de Campi their new sci-fi graphic novel 'MADI: Once Upon A Time In The Future'.
Other guests to look out for include Batman/Batgirl talent Becky Cloonan, Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV, Joelle Jones and Babs Tarr. Other highlights include Doctor Who artist Rachael Stott, Watchmen artist Dave Gibbons, and Walking Dead creator Charlie Adlard. Creative Boom fans will probably enjoy a spot by Alex Norris, creator of the 'Oh No' Webcomic Name series, along with searing comic journalist Joe Sacco.
Other partner events include a premiere of the first episode of Marvel's Black Panther: Sins of the King, an immersive audiobook narrated by The Good Place's William Jackson Harper, as presented from Serial Box. A special edition of #TimsTwitterListeningParty presented by Mondo, Death Waltz and Tim Burgess will invite fans to join a listen along with of legendary film composer Michael Giacchino's (The Incredibles, Rogue One, UP, Star Trek) debut album 'Travelogue: Volume 1'. The party will be hosted by Michael Giacchino, artist Henry Abrams and some exceptional surprise guests.
Thought Bubble is also teaming up with San Diego's Comic-Con International, who will be contributing several events to Thought Bubble, including a peek into the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards.
Alongside the exclusive content, panels, Q&As and masterclasses, Thought Bubble will be hosting shops featuring hundreds of the acclaimed creators and artists exhibiting at Thought Bubble each year.
While the majority of Thought Bubble will take place online, the festival is working on many special, socially distanced events in its hometown of Leeds, local restrictions permitted. These include a collaboration with Leeds venue Belgrave Music Hall and acclaimed local restaurant Ox Club who will be hosting an eat along screening of anime film Paprika that will feature a special menu inspired by the film served during the screening. That takes place in January 2021.
Thought Bubble's digital convention will be free to attend for all, with an open fundraising link over the week if fans would like to contribute towards Thought Bubble's running costs following this most disruptive of years.
The Thought Bubble Festival Comic Art Festival 2020 runs online 14-15 November 2020.
