Elena Cremona's haunting photobook forms an emotional bridge to the past

Photographic artist Elena Cremona recently came to our attention as one of the contributors to a project raising money for Black Lives Matter. And now she's launched her first photographic book, Postcards of the Past.

The book features a series of powerful and evocative black and white photographs documenting the landscape of Joshua Tree, California's famous national park. The pictures were taken as Elena's relationship was ending. In many ways, they reflect this atmosphere, from creeping splits in the surfaces of rocks to the singular Joshua trees, isolated and alone. She called the photographs 'postcards' for the way she was feeling as she took them: wishing she could remain in place geographically, but return to another time.

In the book, Elena's evocative work is presented as a set of postcard-sized prints, in a die-cut folder with a foil embossed title and printed cover image. Published by Guest Editions, it also includes texts by Joanna L. Cresswell.

Postcards of the Past is currently available to pre-order here. All pre-order sales are discounted at £5 off of the eventual release price of £25, or £50 for the special edition.
