What a Racket: Threaded artworks woven into old badminton rackets

In her series What a Racket, South African embroidery artist and designer Danielle Clough crafts the most incredible threaded artworks onto old badminton and tennis rackets using bright coloured wool. Creating images of big and bold flowers, it's an unusually pleasing take on the increasingly popular fibre art movement.

Born and raised in Cape Town – and referred to as "Dee" by those who know her because they know she hates the name "Dani" – Clough completed her studies in art direction and graphic design at The Red and Yellow School before embarking on a career in visual art, digital design and crafting. As well as her beautiful needlework, she also loves to combine her visual art with music, and – using the street name Fiance Knowles – has performed with local DJs and musicians at local festivals and gigs.

A House and Leisure Rising Star and one of the Superbalist's Top 100 young creatives of 2015, Dee has been profiled in Elle, The Lake, VISI and We-Are-Awesome, while her work has been published in Rolling Stone, Cape Times, Mercedes Benz Life, 10and5 and featured in various exhibitions across the country.
