Brand design at Gusto builds trust and recognition, spanning language, typography, colour, composition, illustration and motion. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on brand craft, motion design systems and visual work that makes a B2B brand feel human.
You'll own creative work from concept to delivery, judge AI-generated output for brand fit, and help make motion a core part of brand creation from the start. AI use is expected across roles at Gusto, and AI experience is assessed in interviews. The role is based in New York, Denver or San Francisco, working in the office around two to three days a week.
What you'll be doing
- Designing visual and motion work for product launches, education, campaigns, events and digital channels
- Building and evolving brand systems, including motion guidelines, templates and guardrails
- Integrating motion into the brand design process with principles and animation patterns
- Directing and evaluating AI-generated creative work, deciding what is on-brand and what should not ship
- Using AI tools to speed up concept-to-execution and raise quality
- Collaborating with creatives and with marketing, product and growth partners
- Creating repeatable templates and workflows that speed up delivery without lowering quality
- Maintaining brand consistency across all deliverables, including AI-assisted work
What we're looking for
- Six or more years of brand, visual or motion design experience in in-house studios, agencies or content teams
- A portfolio (required) covering brand identity, product marketing, campaigns and digital content, with notes on how AI was used and the decisions made
- Strong design instincts across typography, colour, composition and motion direction
- Expert skill with motion design principles and tools, including Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, Cavalry, Rive and Lottie
- A clear point of view on directing AI in creative work and maintaining quality standards
- The ability to move between large brand projects and fast executional work
- Strong collaboration skills across creative, production, marketing and product teams
- A maker mindset focused on improving how work gets made
- Preferred: experience creating standards for AI-assisted production, such as guardrails, evaluation criteria or workflows
What's on offer
- Salary: US$177,000 – US$222,000 in New York, San Francisco and Seattle; US$146,000 – US$183,000 in Denver and most remote locations
- Base pay, benefits and RSU equity for all full-time employees; final offers depend on experience and expertise
- See Gusto's Total Rewards Approach page for full benefits details
