Craigslist Encounters: Portrait series documents responses to online advertisement
If you saw an advert on Craigslist requesting candidates for a portrait photography project, would you reply?

Luckily for Los Angeles-based photography duo KremerJohnson (Neil Kremer and Cory Johnson), over 100 people did reply to their post: “Portrait subjects needed (Anywhere). Compensation: $20 per hour. Portrait photographer seeking subjects. Looking for interesting people to photograph…all shapes, races, genders, and sizes are welcome. I will come to you at your convenience.”
The resulting series, which is still ongoing, includes a fascinating cross-section of people – photographed beautifully in locations selected by the candidates themselves. Being self-confessed "lighting geeks" the photographers only use two lights per shoot. They believe this helps provide a "focus" to the subject.
KremerJohnson is a photography team specialising in environmental, studio, and narrative portraiture. Their images are both stylised and authentic, showcasing their subjects in engaging and impactful ways. Discover more at behance.net/neilkremer and on Instagram.
