Slices of Time: Emmanuelle Moureaux to bring her next interactive, rainbow-coloured artwork to London

Tokyo-based French architect and designer Emmanuelle Moureaux has seduced us all with her ongoing vibrant series, 100 Colors, where she cuts thousands of pieces of paper in 100 shades to create immersive art for all to enjoy.

So far, we've had a rainbow forest of numbers, thousands of colourful paper people hanging from a ceiling and drapes of vibrant paper hanging in Shinjuku, Tokyo. This February, Moureaux brings her next instalment to NOW Gallery in London. Entitled Slices of Time, it is inspired by the gallery's namesake and the significant location on Greenwich Peninsula, close to the Meridian.

Comprising layers in 100 shades of colours and white, it will fill the space with a large, complex and beautiful aesthetic of cut out coloured paper to create a floating representation of the earth.

If you pop along to the show, you'll be offered the time to remember a significant date. Round paper will be available to write your chosen date on in coloured pen; and why it is important. This will be placed on the window of the gallery, along a timeline which will create a kaleidoscope of different coloured dates.

NOW Gallery's Curator Jemima Burrill believes it's just what we need right now: "The measured detail and calm considered order of Moureaux's work seemed the perfect respite from the political bedlam we are experiencing. This exhibition will include everyone, giving them the opportunity to have a moment to enjoy colour and form in all its simplicity and complexity. Both elements will work together to surprise and saturate, providing a moment to think about a date of significance within a colourful order. A contemplative moment for all."

Slices of Time by Emmanuelle Moureaux will open at London's NOW Gallery on 5 February and run until 17 April 2020. In the meantime, here's a selection of Moureaux's recent work for the 100 Colors series.
