Secret Garden: Artist Ian Berry crafts a path of nature entirely out of denim jeans
Ian Berry, the artist who famously paints with denim, is back with his latest installation, Secret Garden.
Based at the Children's Museum of the Arts in New York, it's an artwork that you can literally walk through, on top of a denim path filled with various flowers and plants, from roses to cacti, wisteria to chrysanthemum – all made out of old jeans. But the most impressive part is the trellis hanging down from the ceiling with hundreds of vines and leaves, dangling petals and fluttering butterflies seemingly taking over the entire space.
The installation was inspired by childhood and the recognition that today's youngsters don't spend as much time playing outdoors, interacting with nature. Ian wanted to bring nature back to New York families: "Yes, there are places to go and famous parks with amazing open space and the High Line too, but perhaps it may inspire parents to find a little secret garden near to them," he added.
Secret Garden by Ian Berry will be at the Children's Museum of the Arts until April 2018. To find out more visit, ianberry.org.
