Paintings of 'dreamy' Big Cats by Yorkshire artist Kelsey Emblow created from thousands of tiny dots

If like us, you've been sat watching Tiger King on Netflix these last few days, trying to get your head around all the elements behind that strange story, then Kelsey Emblow's dreamy illustrations of Big Cats might offer some relief.

Created using thousands of tiny dots, the warming tributes to tigers, lions and panthers combine the Yorkshire artist's love of stippling with abstract art – something her father specialised in when he was at college.

"There's a nostalgic quality to these illustrations," says Kelsey. "As if from a long lost dream. The cats are drawn with thousands of tiny dots with a soft abstract background and foreground appearing like colourful fog or clouds. The inspiration behind the illustrations was a growing fear that they will one day be extinct, and one day may become merely a dream."
