Illustrated cultural series celebrates Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru
Netherlands-based illustrator Marijke Buurlage was commissioned by the Pacific Alliance to create this colourful series of drawings for travel magazine, Four Nations.

The Pacific Alliance initiative of regional integration is comprised by Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru. The designer explains: "My job was to combine the highlights of all the countries into one illustration.
"There is a total of four illustrations, that show the different tourism aspects: ancient, living cultures, nature and contemporary experiences."
Buurlage's distinctive style is both bold and playful, highlighting key aspects of the countries' cultures under the four chosen themes. She explains her thoughts for each image over on her website.
The artist, who is based in Leeuwarden, Netherlands, graduated from Minerva Academy Groningen and has been working as a freelance illustrator ever since.
She mostly works on editorial illustrations for magazines, children’s book covers, posters, apps and e-books, but she also loves working on self-initiated side-projects.
