Femme Type: A new book that celebrates women in the type industry

After a successful Kickstarter campaign, People of Print has released a new book to celebrate women in the type industry.

Femme Type is an all-female publication dreamt up by ex-University of Arts London Chelsea attendant Amber Weaver that champions over 40 female typographers across the world. The book's mission is to create a "valuable stage and platform for designers to showcase their brilliant typographic achievements" wrapped up in a wonderful printed format.

"I created this book as it seemed one of the best ways to bring together the collection of works all under one roof," says Amber. "Constructed as a physical format means that Femme Type has a more permanent presence, and hopefully goes on to be used as a tool to inspire current and younger generations to come."

Split into three sections: essays, type design and typography, the book begins with a foreword by GoodType founder Brooke Robinson and includes contributions from TienMin Liao, Marie Ramos, Bianca Berning, Verena Gerlach, Andrea Tinnes, Pooja Saxena, Veronica Fuerte, Shanti Sparrow and Lynne Yun, and many more.

People of Print has teamed up with UK-based Pressision to make this project a reality. For those who like to know the detail, the book contains 272 pages, printed on Fedrigoni Arcoprint paper.
