Directed and produced by award-winning duo Charney Magri and Ramzi Moutran, and showing for the first-time throughout Fashion Revolution Week, the docu-series follows the reverse journey of transparent sustainable fashion collaborating with people, companies and brands who have decided to make a difference, and to design with sustainability and the environment in mind, showing that sustainability is not only possible but beautiful.
Charney Magri, who has over 20 years experience in the fashion, beauty and advertising industry, says: "Given almost 63% of textiles are synthetics – meaning oil and plastics – and 83% of our water contains plastic microfibres with a third of this is said to come from the fashion industry, the only way we are going to solve issues such as this is by raising awareness, encouraging people to be more curious and ask more questions.
"Through Catwalk to Creation, we are aiming to highlight the importance of sustainability. Our mission is to prove why we need to design for a lifetime, not a season. Catwalk to Creation provides consumers with the transparency they deserve, a much-needed, behind the scenes look at the industry."
Footage includes fashion production factory Lenzing in Austria working with next-gen solution materials. The film also features a number of interviews with high profile industry insiders including Fashion Revolution’s co-founder and creative director Orsola De Castro, British Fashion Council’s CEO Caroline Rush CBE, and the founder of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, Dame Ellen MacArthur.
"It's an important story about the fashion industry’s impacts on the world’s ancient and endangered forests, climate, front line communities and freshwater systems," says Nicole Rycroft, Canopy founder and executive director. "Equally important is how it sheds a light on the innovative partnerships and work being done to bring truly sustainable clothing – such as fabrics made from recycled textiles – into our closets." Watch, learn and share.
