Dreamy photography series captures the beauty of island life in the Indian Ocean

We've made it through what is arguably the most difficult part of the year – so long, January – and the British springtime is now well and truly in sight. As our minds wander to impending, much anticipated holidays, we can derive inspiration from the photographs of fellow holidaymakers, such as Flore Diamant.

While travelling and enjoying the various Islands around the western Indian Ocean – mainly Nosy Be, Reunion Island and Mauritius – the film photographer wanted to capture, "not only the beauty of the surrounding nature – because let’s be honest, nothing can really do it justice – but the feeling you get by spending most of your day outside, breathing the fresh air around you and exploring new environments."

"By getting used to staying inside due to the great wintery weather in the UK, you tend to forget the luxury that is the outside world and its benefits. Waking up with the sun and watching the sunset every single night is something that should not be taken for granted.

"From discovering what lives underwater to swimming in waterfalls and hiking up volcanoes, the amount of activities to do is infinite. The joy of not needing to use your phone for anything but for its torch to walk on the beach at night is a delight that our generation maybe needs the most – unplugging from the ordinary to go back to it with a new eye having witnessed the extraordinary."

We couldn't agree more. Discover Flore's series below, and visit her website.
