Artist moves to Stockholm and creates illustrations of his first Scandinavian summer

In his series Aegean/Archipelago, British children's book designer and artist Jamie Jonathan Ball documents his recent move from London to Stockholm with a number of large-scale personal paintings of friends and shared memories of his first summer spent in Scandinavia, as well as along the Aegean Coast.

He explains: "The pieces begin as ink drawings of photographs I have taken, which are then scanned and increased in scale. I then use them as a template to create a digital painting. The final stage is to print and work again on top with acrylic and crayon. This has now become an ongoing project, which also has a partner series called Aegean. I am currently working on a new series entitled Nordrhein-Westfalen. I am trying to make a year of my life in these paintings."

Apparently, it has always been Jamie’s dream to use his imagination and love of travel, people of the world and adventure stories to create exciting characters and wonderful picture books for children. Based in Stockholm, you can discover more about him at Littlekingdoms.eu.
