Entries of any theme will be accepted and will be judged initially online, as a single JPEG or PNG image. For 2018, there's an esteemed group of expert judges to decide the finalists and Overall Winner, including Peter Brown NEAC (British Figurative Painter), Luci Noel (Director of the Affordable Art Fair Hampstead and Battersea, Autumn Collection), Jacqui McIntosh (Exhibition Manager, Drawing Room Gallery), Siska Lyssens (Freelance Arts Writer), Mark Roscoe (Portrait Artist and Winner of the Jackson’s Open Painting Prize 2017) and Karl Bielik (Abstract Painter).

Artists who get through the first round of judging, therefore winning a place on the Long List, can look forward to having their work displayed permanently on Jackson's online gallery. They will also be eligible for the People’s Choice Award which will be decided by a public vote.

The following six Category Prizes will then be awarded by the Jackson’s Judging Panel, so as each subject can be judged amongst its peers: Portrait/Figure, Animals, Still life/Botanical, Non-representational/Abstract, Landscape/Cityscape/Seascape and Scenes of Everyday Life.

The winner of the Jackson’s Open Painting Prize and a number of shortlisted works will be exhibited at the Affordable Art Fair Hampstead in May 2018.
