Born from the idea that even in the toughest of situations, there's something to be grateful for, 100 Days of Gratitude features 100 portraits of creators and the little things that get them through hard times. These include Brogan Cox and her ritualistic coffee drinking, Andrew Diprose's relaxing bike rides, and Charlotte Glebocki's beloved whippet.
Having started the project on 12 June, Justyna drew one submitted gratitude a day and shared her creations on her Instagram profile. With the final image to be drawn on 21 September - World Gratitude Day - she wanted to bring the creative community together around a positive and universal idea. And seeing as so many members of the creatives still reeling from the devastating impact of the pandemic, 100 Days of Gratitude feels like a timely ray of light and reassurance.
"I wanted this project to put a smile on people's faces, to ease their sorrows and create moments of grateful reflection," says Justyna. "We're starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel in terms of the pandemic, and I wanted to support creatives who—like everyone else—have been under pressure and subjected to prolonged periods of uncertainty."
She adds: "With lockdown easing, it felt like the right time to amplify feelings of hope and positivity now that the worst seems to be behind us."
The exhibition, which runs from 18-26 September as part of the London Design Festival, will also feature limited edition prints of Justyna's portraits. And if you're unable to attend in person, you can also pick up a portrait from Justyna's online shop (to be launched soon). Retailing at £100, each sale includes a 10% charity donation which will go towards Endometriosis UK - the UK's leading charity supporting those impacted by endometriosis, including Justyna, who first underwent surgery for the condition while putting 100 Days of Gratitude together.
If you're in the area, there's even a private viewing that will take place on 22 September between 6-9pm – book tickets via EventBrite. Featuring portraits of creatives from Google, Dezeen, Handsome Frank and more, 100 Days of Gratitude promises to be a joyous celebration of optimism and appreciation.
