Loulou's minimalist and calming illustrations that experiment with traditional mediums

Loulou is a London-based image maker who enjoys experimenting with colour, shape and space. She recently graduated with a First Class Honours in Illustration and Visual Communication at the University of Westminster and presented her work at this year's D&AD New Blood, which is where we discovered her.

"I draw upon the themes of minimalism and my paintings are small, intricate and inviting," she says. "I utilise a variety of textures from watercolour, acrylic and gouache, and occasionally coloured pencil. It is important for me to use my surroundings and to find interesting, simple architecture and locations as fuel for my art to create a tangible and accessible space.

"I also particularly love and admire the traditional way of working on paper, which I feel is lost in the current digital age, as it is something that is very raw, intimate and personal." Discover more via her website.
