Flowers For Her: Iancu Barbărasă draws a bouquet of flowers every day to make his partner smile

Instead of being able to pop to the shops to buy flowers for his partner, Iancu Barbărasă has been drawing a bouquet every day to help her smile and get them both through these challenging times.

The London-based designer and illustrator has been keeping himself busy during the lockdown and has now shared some of his floral artworks with us: "We've been at home all day, usually working in the same room. Starting the day with a smile in such difficult times can make a big difference. And since I can't go out and buy flowers like before, I decided to draw some instead," Iancu tells Creative Boom.

"That's because I think making your loved one smile every day is one of the best ways to have a happy relationship. You can do it in many ways, and they don't need to be grand gestures. In the long run, it's the little things that often pay off a lot more than expensive presents or impressive feats."

Each drawing is usually made early in the morning before breakfast on A6 paper using ink brush pens. It's a series similar to Iancu's Morning Drawings from a few years back, which was inspired by Katsuji Wakisaka, the great Japanese textile designer. Iancu hopes to turn his latest artworks into perhaps a booklet, set of postcards, or posters – he's yet to decide. In the meantime, follow his updates on Instagram.
