Emoji Paintings by Nastya Ptichek

Ukrainian artist Nastya Ptichek has ingeniously transported world famous paintings into the 21st century by embedding emoticons and notifications from social networking sites Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

The collection is entitled "Emoji-Nation"and features famous works by Edward Hopper, Caravaggio and Dosso Dossi. Ptichek explained: "The project started when I realised that standard iOS emojis strongly resemble some well-known paintings of famous artists. I didn't call the first set 'Emoji-Nation Part One’ just in case I was too lazy to continue the project.”
