The life of an in-house graphic designer over 25 years, with Damian Graham

Our guest this week is graphic and surface print designer, Damian Graham. A graduate of DeMontfort University in fashion and textile design in 1996, he has spent the last 25 years becoming a specialist in graphic design for sporting brands, creating entire collections for names such as Speedo, Mitre Football and Berghaus.

During his career, Damian has worked both in-house and as a freelancer. He’s currently based in Nottingham where he works in-house for Pentland Brands, designing swimwear for Speedo International – amongst many other things.

In this episode, we talk about Damian's journey so far. His stints as both freelance and working in-house – the differences and the benefits of each. We chat about the glorious '90s, of life before mobile phones, clubbing and how cities and life have changed. We go mad about tennis for a while – after all, it’s Damian's biggest passion.

He also shares some excellent career tips for aspiring designers hoping to enjoy a similar path to his own. Our conversation with Damian reminded us that we all find our way in the end – even though it might often involve some twists and turns. And that no experience is ever wasted.
