As Design Lead for the Fanatics Collect Marketplace, you'll own the end-to-end experience of the Marketplace – Buy Now listings, Weekly Auctions and Premier Auctions – making it easy and trustworthy for collectors to find and buy the cards they want. You'll coordinate with the Director of Product Design, E-commerce and with the Live and TOPPS.com design leads so all three marketplaces feel like one product.
Fanatics is a global digital sports platform with hundreds of sports partners and more than 2,000 retail locations; its 22,000+ employees focus on improving the fan experience. The Fanatics Collect team is distributed across time zones and countries, and values intelligence, kindness, context over control and hands-on ownership. The role is based in New York (or Los Angeles), in the office five days a week.
What you'll be doing
Marketplace experience
- Owning the design of Buy Now, Weekly Auctions and Premier Auctions
- Making search, browsing, filtering and discovery easy and scalable
- Building trust through clear listings, provenance and outcomes
- Balancing fixed-price buying with live and ongoing auction mechanics
- Working with Product and Engineering to improve usability and interaction patterns
Engagement and trust
- Designing bidding, buying and selling to feel exciting rather than stressful
- Keeping pricing, fees, authentication and order status clear and transparent
- Using data and collector feedback to improve conversion, trust and satisfaction
Cross-surface coherence
- Aligning shared patterns such as search, navigation and checkout with the Live and TOPPS.com design leads
- Working with Creative Studio to reflect the brand's trusted, auction-house voice
- Working with the Shared Experience team on the design system and core navigation and search patterns
Craft and quality
- Maintaining a high craft standard for every listing, card and transaction
- Carrying designs from concept to shipped product, protecting design intent with Engineering
- Mentoring designers and raising the team's craft standard
What we're looking for
- Seven or more years of product design experience, ideally in marketplace, e-commerce or auction design
- A systems thinker who can design for both fast fixed-price buying and live auction anticipation
- The ability to move from user flows and information architecture to detailed UI and interaction design
- A data-informed approach, using research and metrics to guide decisions
- Clear communication skills to align Product, Engineering, Brand and other design leads
- A genuine interest in trading cards and collecting, or eagerness to learn
If you don't meet every requirement, Fanatics encourages you to apply anyway.
What's on offer
- Base salary: US$120,000 – US$150,000 in New York City (US$115,000 – US$140,000 in Los Angeles), excluding incentive compensation
- Benefits as set out at benefitsatfanatics.com
