An inspiring artist studio for Jane French in Leicester

Today we're taking a peek at the studio of Jane French, a contemporary artist who specialises in portraits and is based in Leicester. In Jane's own words: "I am in my lovely studio from about 9am in the morning until about 3pm in the afternoon. At all other times I am mum to Albert (age 11) and Lois (age 9) - as well as partner and friend to Andrew (age 46). I am therefore quite busy with all that this entails!

"My studio has white walls, a grey painted wooden floor, a big window with a view out to the garden and lots of space to put/store stuff. I am inspired by incredible people and by interesting things. I have lots of postcards, magazine cuttings and photos of images that interest me. I love vintage cups and pots and I often paint collections of them. I also like tiny objects that remind me of a particular time or place or person. Photos of - and messages from - family and friends make me smile as I work!

"I love my studio. I listen to Radio 4 in the mornings and Radio 6 in the afternoons and I feel incredibly lucky to be there!"
