Artist paints clues to the musicians that are set to appear at a popular jazz festival

For the 50th Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, French artist Greg Guillemin was commissioned to create 60 portraits, in his usual pop art style, of the leading jazz stars and musicians that would grace the event's stages this July.

From its creation in 1967 by Claude Nobs, who would have turned 80 in February, Montreux rapidly earned a reputation for being one of the best music festivals in the world. It has welcomed legendary artists into its idyllic embrace.

Some, like Prince and Deep Purple, contributed to penning the legend of Montreux through their songs, while others, like David Bowie, Nina Simone, and Freddie Mercury came and lived in the region, or recorded albums nearby.

The lineup this year includes Lana Del Rey, Muse, Future, Slayer, Deep Purple, ZZ Top, Nekfeu and much more. Greg has painted them all. But can you guess who's who? Here is just a selection of his artworks. You can view the entire collection at www.greg-guillemin.com.
