Athens-based fine art photographer and co-editor of Phases Magazine Alexis Vasilikos recently got in touch with a beautiful new series entitled Balancing Act; which as the title suggests, focus on the sense of balance.
According to Vasilikos, the series "explores the various expressions and manifestations of balance that take place mostly in the landscape of everyday life," he says. "As in many previous edits,
I've created the sequence with different kinds of imagery from my archive. I tried to create a dynamic field of the theme, approaching it from as many different angles as possible."
With the notion of "balance" as such a slippery and multifarious one, it's no surprise that Vasilikos' camera has been turned to such a wide variety of subjects: a hula hooping woman; a heron; a dog; some very unusual dentures. It's beautiful to see such a loose concept uniting these various things, and highlighting the fragile balance of life itself and the people that make it.
