This is a non-traditional design role for a Special Projects Designer, covering projects where Koto is the client – such as the OFF editorial and events mix, the Seasoned design education platform and the CcType type foundry. It suits an entrepreneurial person who can spot a good idea, develop it and make it stand out. Motion skills are welcome but not required.

The post reports into the Chief Creative Officer, London's Executive Creative Director and Global Marketing, and works with creatives across Koto's studios. Strong ideas, taste, curiosity and fast learning matter most.

What you'll be doing

  • Work with the Chief Creative Officer, London's Executive Creative Director and Global Marketing to shape Koto's public presence
  • Set a clear creative direction for the brand through concepts, visual systems and work that builds reputation
  • Co-lead design for Seasoned, CcType and the OFF ecosystem, and help launch new ventures, events, collaborations and products
  • Take projects from first idea to final delivery within a team, covering concept, design, art direction and production
  • Lead the visual output of Koto's social channels with branded content
  • Design across many formats, including identity, campaigns, editorial, events, presentations, digital, merchandise and moving image
  • Turn studio news, cultural moments, hiring campaigns and celebrations into creative projects rather than standard announcements
  • Experiment with new tools, formats and production methods
  • Collaborate with designers, strategists, writers, filmmakers, developers, photographers and external makers to strengthen each idea
  • Own your work, manage projects efficiently, present ideas confidently, respond well to feedback, and contribute to the London studio and global team

What we're looking for

  • Strong ideas, taste, curiosity and the ability to learn fast
  • An entrepreneurial approach – someone who can spot a good idea, develop it and make it stand out
  • Motion experience helps, but curiosity and quick learning count for more

What's on offer

  • Salary: £55,000 – £65,000
  • Regular access to your manager and creative leadership, support for your development and room to shape the role
  • Promotions, pay rises and a discretionary bonus of up to 10% of salary
  • An equal and inclusive workplace for everyone
  • Family leave and enhanced paid maternity and paternity policies
  • 25 days' annual leave plus UK bank holidays, an extra day per year of service (capped at five) and a studio closure between Christmas and New Year
  • 3% employer contribution to the Scottish Widows pension scheme
  • £75 monthly wellness allowance through Juno
  • Access to YCN and funding for relevant training
  • £5,000 and five extra days' holiday after five years; £10,000 and four extra weeks after ten years
  • Opportunities to work from and travel to Koto studios worldwide
  • Mainly in-person working, with optional work from home on Fridays and 20 remote days a year
