The role

Leads the Whitney's organic social strategy, editorial direction and community engagement, turning exhibitions, programmes and museum life into platform-native content. Reports to the Assistant Director, Digital Content.

What you'll do

  • Define organic social strategy and success metrics for each platform
  • Develop recurring formats, series, live coverage and creator collaborations
  • Own the social editorial calendar
  • Adapt curatorial material while protecting accuracy and artist intent
  • Brief video and photography with the in-house Creative team
  • Lead community management and moderation
  • Analyse performance and report to leadership

About you

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 5–8 years in social, digital marketing or content
  • A portfolio showing editorial judgement, audience growth and short-form video
  • Excellent writing and editing
  • Experience with tools such as Sprout Social or Meltwater
  • Experience briefing creative teams and freelancers
  • Experience supervising staff, and knowledge of American art

  • Location: 99 Gansevoort Street, New York; primarily on-site, with hybrid possible
