The role
Tecovas is hiring a Junior Designer for men's footwear to support its Product Design team. The role reports directly to the Design Director. It must be based in Austin, Texas, so candidates need to live in the area or be willing to relocate.
What you'll do
- Help turn seasonal direction and trend research into commercial concepts
- Assist with designs for uppers, outsoles, trims and embellishments
- Produce illustrations, CADs and tech packs in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Work with cross-functional teams on pricing, timelines and brand goals
- Help manage projects from concept to final execution and meet deadlines
- Take part in prototype reviews and update tech packs in response to feedback
- Maintain and add to a digital asset library of swatches, components and templates
- Keep inspiration, samples and prototypes organised
- Travel internationally and attend trade shows and events when needed
About you
- Bachelor's degree in Footwear, Fashion or Industrial Design, or equivalent experience
- Proficient at creating CADs, tech packs and technical drawings
- A strong interest in product design and craftsmanship, especially leather and footwear
- Attentive to detail, organised and focused on deadlines
- Able to manage several priorities at once
- Strong communication skills
- Nice to have: 1 to 3 years of footwear design experience
- Nice to have: familiarity with 3D design software
- Nice to have: experience in leather goods and an understanding of Western lifestyle or culture
