Yonder is a small, fast-growing team that combines credit and debit in one membership – "It's as if Time Out, Amex and Monzo had a baby." Design plays a central role in its growth.
Design builds members' trust with their money, makes complex credit products simple, and makes rewards something members want to use.
What you'll be doing
- Solving open-ended problems, such as making a credit account as easy to understand as a current account
- Designing polished, enjoyable products
- Running your own research, including talking to members and usability testing
- Working closely with your product manager and engineers from the start
- Balancing quick experiments with careful polish
- Building and maintaining the design system
What we're looking for
- You work at a senior level and take ownership without close direction
- You have designed high-quality native mobile apps
- You're a generalist – the team has no dedicated researchers, content designers or copywriters
- You care deeply about visual details like typography, spacing and colour
- You communicate openly and early
- You focus on member impact rather than output
- You're curious about AI tools and how they apply to design
You may not be a fit if you...
- Need step-by-step direction
- Prefer working alone
- Want a fully remote role
- Want months to polish a single project
What's on offer
- £82,000 – £96,000 annual salary, depending on experience
- £70,000 – £91,000 in stock options
- 35 days' holiday (27 annual leave plus 8 public holidays)
- Regular team trips and events
- Private healthcare through Bupa
- Up to 12 weeks' enhanced parental leave after one year
- £750 a year learning allowance
- Team breakfasts and lunches
- Cycle-to-work scheme
- Coffee made by the CEO
Development
Fortnightly one-to-ones, quarterly peer feedback and weekly reflection sessions.
Workplace
The role is office-first, based in the Shoreditch office. You'd be in at least three days a week, with everyone in on Mondays; otherwise the arrangement is flexible.
Interview process
- Intro call (45 minutes) with Craig, Head of Design
- Portfolio review (60 minutes) of one or two projects
- Take-home design challenge, presented to the team over a call
- On-site visit (two hours) with an app critique and a values interview
- Offer, if everyone agrees
Decisions are usually given within 24 hours of each stage, and candidates can expect specific feedback from stage two onwards. Pre-employment checks include right to work, criminal background and references; the full process can take two to six weeks.
