This is your chance to launch a career at the very heart of British broadcasting. The BBC is looking for people with a passion for finding out how content is made and how ideas are brought to life. You'll earn a recognised qualification while learning on the job and broadening your production knowledge on content that matters to millions.

As an apprentice in Music and Entertainment, you'll create and edit features, book and research guests, prepare music playlists and get plenty of studio experience. You'll also work on digital content and develop your filming and editing skills. It's a busy but very supportive team, and much of the work involves direct contact with audiences, especially at Outside Broadcasts such as Children in Need. The apprenticeship could lead to roles such as Junior Researcher, Runner, or Content or Edit Assistant.

What you'll be doing

  • Helping to develop ideas and stories by researching content and finding guests and participants
  • Assisting your team on location, in the studio or in a TV gallery, and helping out on the studio floor
  • Learning to use technical equipment and specialist software by supporting teams with cameras, sound, lighting and editing
  • Creating content for multiple platforms, including social media, with guidance from experienced professionals
  • Studying for a Level 3 Production Assistant qualification, with learning blocks of up to a week at a time, delivered in person and online

What we're looking for

  • Passion and curiosity about content and the production process at the BBC
  • Plenty of new ideas and fresh perspectives for BBC content
  • A great team player who can deal with unexpected challenges
  • A flexible, adaptable approach to work
  • The scheme is aimed at non-graduates. You must be 18 or over by September 2027, have lived in the UK continuously for the past three years, have the right to work full-time in the UK for the whole apprenticeship, and live within commuting distance of Belfast

What's on offer

  • Salary: £24,650
  • Fixed-term apprenticeship, full-time for 13 months, based at Broadcasting House, Belfast
  • An industry-recognised qualification, with training through the BBC Academy and its learning providers
  • A 35-hour working week, 25 days' annual leave, a defined pension scheme, and discounted dental, healthcare and gym
  • A dedicated Team Manager and Scheme Specialist, plus mentoring from industry professionals
  • Employability and networking support, and the chance to apply for relocation support (subject to eligibility)
