The British Heart Foundation (BHF) has funded research into heart and circulatory diseases for six decades, with a mission to help people have healthier hearts for longer. Its Creative and Production Team is looking for a Mid-Weight Creative Designer to join on a 12-month fixed-term contract covering family leave, starting as soon as possible.

You'll create campaign and brand work across digital, social, video and print – turning briefs into audience-focused creative alongside copywriters, marketers, videographers and fundraising teams. The work ranges from large cross-channel campaigns to smaller tasks such as brand guidance updates and content for new initiatives, all in support of the BHF's life-saving research.

What you'll be doing

  • Creating campaign and brand work across digital, social, video and print
  • Turning briefs into audience-focused creative that lands with the people it's made for
  • Working closely with copywriters, marketers, videographers and fundraising teams
  • Balancing large cross-channel campaigns with smaller tasks, such as brand guidance updates and content for new initiatives
  • Managing several priorities at once, including high-volume content alongside bigger campaigns, and working with external suppliers

What we're looking for

  • Experience delivering creative projects from concept to completion, with some autonomy, in an in-house or agency setting
  • A portfolio showing creative thinking, visual craft and ownership of your work, including social, paid digital and organic content
  • Expert Adobe Creative Cloud skills – Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign are essential, with strong Premiere Pro and After Effects skills also needed
  • Knowledge of creating content for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube, adapted to each platform
  • Organised, proactive and collaborative, able to manage multiple priorities and work with external suppliers
  • Clear communication of ideas, calm problem-solving and close attention to detail, including grammar and spelling
  • Curiosity about design and technical innovation, and a commitment to a thoughtful, professional service

What's on offer

  • £35,000 – £37,000 a year plus benefits
  • 12-month fixed-term contract covering family leave, 35 hours per week
  • Hybrid working – an average of at least one day a week in the London office (the team's office day is currently Wednesday, though this may change, so flexibility is expected)
  • A broad benefits package, with details on the BHF's Benefits and Learning and Development pages
  • Flexible working can be discussed at application or interview stage
  • Interviews held in person at the London office or online via Microsoft Teams

Belonging at BHF

The BHF values diversity and inclusion and wants everyone to feel they belong. It uses anonymised CV screening, and requests for adjustments to the recruitment process can be made through its contact page. Visa sponsorship is unlikely for this role, as the salary is below the minimum threshold for eligibility.
