Granola is looking for a Design Engineer to bridge design and engineering, crafting polished, delightful and technically excellent user experiences. You'll work in both Figma and code to shape how Granola feels.
What you'll be doing
- Building and maintaining a scalable design system in Figma and code (React and Tailwind)
- Prototyping and shipping production-ready UI, with attention to typography, colour, motion and microinteractions
- Working with Product, Design and Engineering to take features from early concept to polished implementation
- Keeping the experience consistent across Mac, Windows and iOS as the company grows
- Finding and closing gaps between design and engineering to raise product quality
- Helping invent new interaction patterns for AI-driven tools
What we're looking for
- Experience as a Design Engineer, a frontend engineer with strong design skills, or a designer with strong engineering skills
- Strong proficiency in React, TypeScript and Tailwind, with a solid grasp of modern frontend architecture
- Strong visual and interaction design skills, with a focus on detail and polish
- A natural prototyper who uses Figma, code or AI tools – whichever is fastest
- Interest in or experience with design systems and component libraries, balancing consistency with flexibility
- A builder first and foremost
- Excited to work in person at the London office most of the time
- Enjoys startup environments, or is interested in the zero-to-one phase
- Values kind, ambitious and pragmatic colleagues
- Does well in a fast-paced, iterative environment that encourages experimentation
Why this role is special
- You'll design and build the Granola interface rather than handing off designs or implementing specs you didn't shape
- You'll prototype, test and refine AI-powered workflows with no established patterns yet
- You'll work closely with co-founder and founding designer Sam and the engineering team
