Almost no design project can be complete without the addition of the odd asset. Whether you need a stock photograph, vector, mockup or handy icon to add to your work – you'll want to find what you need quickly and easily, and preferably without costing you a penny. The following helpful websites will give you everything you need and then some:

Death to the Stock Photo is just that; a photo and inspiration haven for creatives looking to move away from the cheesy stock image and instead find something suitable for their projects. 2. Pexels

Best free stock photos in one place – that's the claim from Pexels which offers a solid range of free stock imagery. Popular searches include coffee, black and white, marketing and dinner – but you can search on any subject you like.

3. Pic Jumbo

Created by web designer Viktor Hanacek, Pic Jumbo offers full quality photos for free. An attribution is appreciated but not necessary, and premium membership is available should you require access to more photographs.

4. StockSnap

Hundreds of high resolution images are added weekly to StockSnap. Free from copyright restrictions, this resource never disappoints. Search by keyword or discover the most popular, most recent and trending pictures.

5. FreePik

Find free vectors, PSD, icons and photos with FreePik. Some will require attribution, while others allow completely free use with no credit – so make sure you read the small print. We especially love the option to filter your search results... just makes life so much easier!

The kind people at Web Designer Depot offer a whole host of free assets. From photographs and wireframe kits to mockups and vectors. Here, we'll mention its range of downloadable icons – including animated elements that will help make your website designs come alive.

Our friends over at the mighty Creative Bloq are always dishing up the goods for some seriously decent free assets. In this particular case, its writer Kerrie Hughes sourced 100 of the best free fonts for you to download and use.
