Google launches charming animation series for families about internet safety

Ahead of Anti-Bullying Week, Google has released The Legends Family Adventure – a charming animation series about internet safety for the whole family to enjoy.

Brought to you by Aardman, the creators of Wallace & Gromit, Shaun the Sheep and Morph, the adventurous trilogy follows the main characters as they go on an adventure in a captivating, new land where they meet heroes, overcome challenges and unlock the secrets of the 'Legends Code'.

Each episode is interactive and includes key online safety messages and activities, to help families learn together whilst working through the story. The family meet a number of villains along the way, including Cyberbully, Phisher, Oversharer and Hacker.

This is the latest addition to Google's free 'Be Internet Legends' programme, a fun online game that teaches children the five key pillars of internet safety, and an accredited educational programme with teaching resources and live interactive assemblies. It's apparently the largest and most comprehensive internet safety programme for educators and students in the UK. And to launch the series, Google has teamed up with Parent Zone to run a challenge for families to win prizes for their school.

Aardman director Simone Giampaolo says, "Everyone on the project tried her/his best to make the story and visuals as compelling as they could be, and I'm very proud of the team's achievement. I hope that this colourful message of safety and awareness will reach as many kids as possible and that our characters will manage to amuse and entertain the young viewers while teaching them some truly important internet knowledge."

Mai Vo from Google UK adds, "Now more than ever the internet is a key tool for children to be creative and develop their education. We want to help families learn about internet safety together in a fun and engaging way."
